I.T Statewide Field service tech

Technical experience:

State division tech would typically have a greater overall knowledge of the network and possess an effective understanding of electronics theory and circuit analysis. Due to various factors from weather terrain, isolation, and lack of resources, this position requires me to operate 4X4 or snow cat vehicles on primitive roads exposed to extreme desert heat or high altitude snow and ice survival conditions in remote locations. My goal is to use this experience to advance my career .

•          Security: analog and digital cameras PTZ protocols, video testing and troubleshooting, video storage, fiber optic communications, access and control system physical intrusion detection systems, electronic locking systems, gate operators, and control systems such as DSX system and multiple fence intrusion systems AFL, fibersensys, and Intrepid.

•          Multiplexers: install setup troubleshoot, breaking out channels from ds0,ds1,ds3,oc3oc48, OC192,DWDM on Junglemux, Adtran, Cisco, Premisys I have performed full back up and restoral of a damaged Premisys swapping out cards and basic troubleshooting, RAD,op45 & Riki 16 programming equipment, some basic work in the Sonet, DACCS system modular replacement

•          DC distribution rectifiers, battery backup: familiar with installation and maintenance of 24VDC & 48VDC UPS & rectifiers by various types of redundant power management systems, such as Eltek & Lineage rectifiers. In the event of a total loss of power, I can successfully transfer the load from battery to a Mobil or existing APU to restore service.

•          PC & networking: upgrades and projects related to devises fed from our PWAN or CWAN network across the northern half of Arizona, perform routine maintenance, installing and trouble shooting of LAN, WAN networks as well as individual machines such as configure, repair or replace bad equipment, network cards, routers, switches, and firewalls drivers, firmware upgrades, re-imaging, troubleshoot and general settings of PC, laptops, printers and multi-function devices. Through VPN gateway, basic understanding of wireless network protocols Aruba network.802.11x

•          Protective Relaying: install and trouble shoot protective relaying schemes equipment and communications gear supporting it perform handle turning for annual relay testing.

•          Fiber optic 15 past years’ experience testing, splicing and troubleshooting SM & MM OTDR, Fusion splicing indoor and outdoor underground and aerial, OPGW fiber optic cable, specializing in trace analysis software.

•          800 MHz radio system: Motorola 2-way and 800 MHz trucking radio systems. Performed duties such as programming, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance on Mobil automotive and hand held units.             

•          Microwave Radio: Licensed and unlicensed digital microwave radio links testing troubleshooting and annual preventative maintenance on multiple Alcatel MDR series microwave radios such as 4000, 6000, 8000 series along with the MPR 9500 series. I am also Comtrain tower certified for rescue to allow me to perform basic tower inspection and maintenance.

•          Telephone & PBX : setup install troubleshoot telephone analog, digital VOIP data communications using TCP/IP

•          Security clearance: CIP,NERC,FERC,WECC certified

•          Construction projects: perform basic construction on existing equipment, new construction projects track and report progress on projects evaluation and testing of new equipment, produce damage assessment reports, perform annual preventative maintenance of communication sites. Basic knowledge of smart grid technologies with 900 MHz S&C radio to give reliable power to the community. Also worked the Flagstaff community solar power distribution project on MDS radio platform. Building of new 500K substation from the ground up

 

Cox Communications, Phoenix, AZ   2003 – 2011

Project Coordinator

•          Evaluate the most cost effective way to provide service to customers on underground and aerial coaxial cable plant

•          Coordinate & manage multiple crews from several companies doing span construction under multi-million dollar budget to upgrade coaxial plant to 1GHz for 300+ miles of cable replacement and upgrade

•          Review and approve all work performed by various contractors including, field work, billing, and engineering design changes

•          Handle and resolve city and customer complaints

•          Provide weekly reporting on progress of the projects

      Tech 3 NOC, DOC, SOC, ROC / Monitor Technician / Outage Coordinator 

•          Monitor multiple alarms across Arizona’s data, telephony, cable, power, & fiber optic network

•          Generate and follow up on Maintenance/ Trouble Tickets for network issues that need attention

•          Act on and resolve incoming problem calls from, field techs, commercial business, local utility, police/fire dept. 

•          Investigate / analyze node and high speed internet transmit and receive issues , signal to noise ,internet packet loss , telephone outages , fiber optic transport alarms / high cap customers

•          Monitor all power supplies / UPS and there battery capacity to prioritize what power supply and nodes needs attention first before it drops offline to create an outage.

•          Stage / clear and dispatch techs to state wide outages Tucson , phoenix , green valley ,Benson , Arizona to any outage related issue or investigate possible vandalized equipment

•          Manage / direct emergency conference bridge meeting between departments to fix any plant or system related issues from wild fire, monsoon car accident etc.

.      Fiber Optic Technician

•          Repair various issues on fiber optic cables from 1 to 432 standards

•          Emergency restoration from weather, vandalized or auto accident related damage etc.

•          Install and splice customers into an active ring, troubleshoot fiber from Cox’s Head End to CPE

•          Read and Edit plant maps for the engineering department as needed

       Power Supply Technician

•          Perform routine maintenance on 60, 70, & 90V battery backup units

•          Verified and record amp draw, voltage, connections, standby  time, and battery load capacity

•          Repair and test various types of 110/220V power supplies and 5/10k generator

      Video & Telephony Technician

•          Install/repair/troubleshoot Cox digital video and telephone

•          Met and exceeded all accountabilities and deadlines maintenance
